Stateless Persons Will No Longer Pay the Service Fee

01 May, 2022

As of 1 May 2022, the service fee for stateless persons for submitting an application for determining the stateless status and granting Georgian citizenship under the regular procedure has been omitted.

According to the changes implemented in the Ordinance of the Government of Georgia №217, stateless persons in Georgia who wish to obtain the status of a stateless person will no longer pay the fee for this service. Before amending the law, the fee for obtaining the status of a stateless person in Georgia was 25 GEL (reduced from 50 GEL).

Additionally, the service fee will no longer be paid by stateless persons in Georgia who wish to obtain Georgian citizenship through naturalization. Before the mentioned changes, the fee for granting Georgian citizenship under the regular procedure was 50 GEL.

The reduction of the fee for statelessness determination procedures is a result of the pledge submitted by the Government of Georgia in 2019, at the High-Level Segment on Statelessness with the aim to identify and document stateless persons.
